Just the thing to keep your hands warm when you turn the thermostat down to reduce the heating bill. The handwarmers are made in sport weight yarn.
Sizing:
Women's | ||
---|---|---|
Hand Size: | Small | Medium |
Palm Circumference: | 6½" | 7" |
Wrist Circumference: | 6" | 6½" |
Materials needed:
- About 2 ounces of 3-ply sport weight yarn. The pictured handwarmer is made in TLC Wiggles.
- Double-pointed knitting needles, sizes 4 and 6.
(Increase or decrease your needle size if you knit tightly or loosely.)
Gauge:
With the larger needles, working in seed stitch, 5 stitches = 1 inch.Abbreviations/Stitches:
- k - knit
- p - purl
- twr - twist 2 stitches to the right
- Method 1: put one stitch on a cable needle and hold in back of
work. Knit 1 stitch from left needle, knit 1 stitch from cable
needle.
Method 2: slip 2 stitches as if to purl. With left needle in back, insert tip of left needle into the second stitch on the right needle. Carefully slide the right needle out of the 2 slipped stitches, leaving the one on the left hanging in the front. With the right needle in the front, insert the tip of the right needle into the hanging stitch. Transfer the stitch from the right to the left needle. Knit the 2 stitches. (Reference: Chapter 7 of the book Knitting for Dummies.)
- m1 - make 1
- Pick up the running thread (the horizontal thread between the stitches on the left and right needle) and place it on the left needle. Knit the new stitch.
